impressions of Norway: some sights

I've been away from this blog for so long that I'm going to have to ease myself back in gently. Excuse me while I get the harness dusted down and sorted out.

In the meantime, some of you (particularly those of you on Twitter) may recall that I spent a couple of weeks in Norway - well, Oslo and Bergen, at any rate - in the summer. To be brief, I loved everything about it. And, needless to say, the food was one of the many highlights. I'll come on to that in my next post - which, I promise, will follow shortly.

But for now, I'll try to give you an idea of some of the sights, including the good, the bad, and the frankly bizarre...

Great write up. I do love Bergen, but only been there in Winter, looks so lovely in Summer. Must return.

Fab photos. I swear I've seen that fish somewhere before, he looks so familiar! The light looks amazing, so crisp and there's something special about cities that are by the sea too. Looks like you had a great time. Welcome back to the merry world of blogging!

That's definitely an ugly ass fish! I agree with The Things We Make - beautiful light.

Mzungu - thank you. I'm not sure the weather in Bergen is much better in the summer... Warmer, maybe, but drier - doubt it! ;)

Claire - thank you m'dear. Feels good to be back.

Sasa - he's no oil painting, is he?

Meeta - glad you enjoyed the memories!

Lovely pictures! Looks like you saw quite a bit (and had some decent weather to boot). It is quite a special country, but then I'm a tad biased ;-) Looking forward to reading the food posts!

You are allowed to take breaks from the blog, if only you promise to come back with photos as beautiful as these!

This all looks so beautiful, it makes me want to toss caution to the wind and buy the next plane ticket to Norway. Love the rose. Thanks for sharing these photos with us.

Welcome back! I had missed you! Great pictures, I've never been to Scandinavia but the light looks so sharp and clear, I hope to make it there some day.

finally i landed here, and loving your photos as always!

but i have to admit that oslo and norway overall is one of my least favourite places i've been to. i think it's a case of either you love it or you hate it. i spent a lot of travelling to norway for cat shows during some years, it never did anything for me for lots of reasons. one of those countries one might think is very similar to sweden, but in reality one feels quite alien and out of place there. at least i with friends did.

that said, being on holidays and trips and loving it, it's a great, great feeling! (even if i personally so not agree with your impressions;)

It can't truly work, I think this way.
