a box of treats...

Hmmm.... what have we here, then? Looks like a box, smells like a box...

Abel and Cole box 1

I have to get into it. I just have to. Maybe if I tackle it from the other side... Maybe it won't see me coming...

Abel and Cole box 2

A-ha! Take THAT, you infernal swede!

And so an otherwise ordinary Friday morning has been transformed into something rather more, well, interesting for both feline and non-feline members of my household.

The good people of Abel and Cole have delivered to my door a rather lovely mixed organic fruit and veg box for me to try, together with a plump fella of a free-range chicken. Needless to say, I'm happy to oblige... ;-)

Initial impressions are good. The fruit - bananas, apples, and blood oranges (a particular treat) are positively bountiful. The veg - mushrooms, swede, potatoes, red cabbage, parsnips, carrots, and onions - are also looking good, if a tad on the earthy side. A no-holds-barred roast dinner at the weekend seems like a shoo-in. I'll keep you posted.

I just have to get the cat out of the box first.

Kitty just wants the veggies out of there so he can play in the box:D

You might have a point there, Val. I think he also wants to play footie with the swede...

Here's a Swede that wants to play with the cute kitty! Of course I had to get that out of the way. Now moving on to the box, it does look lovely, like the text on the outside too (I'm a sucker for Innocent-ie texts like that).

In Sweden we have something similar called "Ă…rstiderna" - The Seasons, were you can subscribe to seasonal veggies and fruit to be delivered to your door. I've been meaning to do that for ages, maybe 2009 finally is the year for that?

That's so funny. My cat would've just jumped in, because he's convinced that boxes contain invisibility shields and that no one can see him when he's in one.

Nice-looking produce.

That certainly is a roast dinner in the making! I look forward to hearing how the chicken tastes as I also have one of their chickens winging their way to me.

I'm glad you like the box, I swear by mine. I posted something about it on the blog once and the guy from Abel and Cole actually called me to help me identify a vegetable! I've also been enjoying the blood oranges. Also jealous you have a cat!

Pia - ha ha, very funny ;-) I really recommend getting a veg box. I love 'em. Make 2009 the year you do!

Heather - my other one does that... She wasn't around this time, though, unusually for her

Jules - will do a full report on that chicken, don't worry!

Antonia - I'm trying to come up with a good way of using those blood oranges...

Browners - thank you, I will!

Helen - what have you been doing with the oranges?

Alexx - I don't know, you tell me!

Rosie - thank you!

Just happened upon your blog! It's great, and you've made me very hungry, and excited to sign up to a veg box! If nothing else, I know my cat will love it! Thanks.

those boxes are the best thing ever. I remember my flatmate and I googling the names of never seen before plants and fruit to actually figure out how to use them. Good times x
