Yes, I know I should be writing about Cork. And I will, I promise. Just got to get my photos sorted out.
But anyway, as I was saying. Iwas out for dinner last night at my favourite local, The Fat Delicatessen.
And who else was there?
Hmm?
Well?
Give up?
None other than Jason Atherton, he of Maze and Maze Grill, with his wife and daughter. So that's where chefs go on their days off. Apparently he's in there about once a week - and is the model customer, no attitude, no drama, no 'don't you know who I am?'. Which is, of course, a huge compliment to the guys at The Fat Deli, and says more about their food than I ever can.

Ah! I wonder if you were starstruck enough to ask for an autograph? Hee hee. Can't wait to see your Cork photos!
In other news: I attempted a Maze dessert the other day. I haven't posted it yet but it's a beaut! :)
Hey, manggy. No, I didn't ask for an autograph - I thought the guy deserved his quiet time and didn't need some pest disturbing his dinner...
Looking forward to seeing your Maze dessert!
Good to see Balham is becoming a foodie Mecca. How reassuring to see such a foodie legend in our neck of the woods.
Must give the Fat Deli a second chance then.
I haven't eaten there but was a little disappointed with the variety of 'goods' when I was in procurement mode for a dinner party.
As a cafe it looks good, but as a deli it didn't quite measure up to my expectation. To be fair, Trinity Stores is only marginally better.
To use those well sung words of U2... I still haven't found what I'm looking for.
Oh... I cannot recommend the 'chef's experience' at maze highly enough. A great night out.
