a little piece of Love: Scandinavian Kitchen

Those of you who follow me on Twitter will be aware that I've been helping to organise short food photography workshops with Chris Windsor.

Chris has been a photographer for many years, and more recently has been doing a lot of food photography projects for various clients, and for Jenny Linford's The London Cookbook and Food Lovers' London.

Not surprisingly, then, he knows a few eateries and their owners. So when we were cooking up the workshops, he suggested the Scandinavian Kitchen, just off Oxford Circus. I was slightly embarrassed to admit that I hadn't been there. It was yet another of those places that had been on my radar for a while (I defy any London foodie not to have a list of such places the length of a rather long arm), but somehow I'd never got around to going.

But now I have. And I very much liked what I saw, from the unmissable exterior...

... and equally vibrant interior...

and, more to the point, I liked what I tasted... from a huge range of open sandwiches...

... to the best hot dog I've ever come across...

... and then there are the cakes... including the famous Love Cake (aptly named) ...

... and Kladdkaka ('a bit like a brownie, but more gooey', as their label says)...

Will I be going back? Absolutely. Except in future I think I'll leave the camera behind so I can concentrate more on the important stuff - the eating...

Love your cakey pics Helen. I wish I'd taken some photos of the outside too, it's so distinctive.
Hang on, I never spotted that bacony nibble! How did I miss that!

Haha, I was also going to joke for you not to leave the camera behind! :) Love the interior (they really know their design. Love the light.) The hotdog looks fantastic, but I wonder how much more special it is!

Oh, please take with you next time! I'll treat. ;)

Mark - trust me, that hot dog is special. Even better, though, is the one with crispy onion pieces on top... ;)

Susan - when are you next coming to London, then? Very happy to join you for a bite or three to eat there!

love all the red, not too crazy about the swedish "kräftskiva" lantern though, hm.

love cake, oh no, the swedish "kärleksmums" translates "love yum", much more apt me thinks for these choc yummies:) something our mums always baked for school parties during the 70ies, those were the innocent days.

and yes, the workshops sounds truly wonderful!

wonderful photos - I take it Chris took these? Or did you? You usually take such good photos anyway so I'm confused now! Sounds like a good place worth visiting! xxx

Sounds like a great restaurant. It's good to see the under-recognized Scandinavian food be so well represented there.

I've been exploring Scandinavian cooking on Outside Oslo--the Scandinavians have some incredible baked goods!

When I bought my house through costa rica homes for sale
I expected to have a big stove in the kitchen with a huge space, now I am really happy because I can cook every kind of recipe in my huge stove. I really love it.
